BELOIT — The Beloit High School varsity girls tennis team put together a demanding stretch of competition last week, hitting the road for the Marysville High School Varsity Girls Tennis Meet on September 17 before traveling to the Clay Center Varsity Invitational Tournament on September 19.
Marysville High School Meet (September 17)
At the Marysville round-robin tournament, Beloit faced off against tough competition from Marysville, Wamego, Perry Lecompton, and Sabetha.
- Samantha Thompson represented Beloit in #1 Singles, putting up solid efforts throughout the day.
- Brittyn Hilt competed in #2 Singles for the Trojans.
- In #1 Doubles, the team of Claire Turner and Olivia Zierlein battled hard through multiple tight sets.
- The #2 Doubles pairing of Addison Thompson and Brynlee Herrman also stepped up for Beloit in the round-robin format.
Clay Center Invitational (September 19)
Just two days later, Beloit traveled to the Clay Center Invitational, competing in a competitive six-team field that included Abilene, Alma-Wabunsee, Chapman, Concordia, and host Clay Center.
The Trojans filled out their lineup across the board:
- Chloe Holte (competing from Clay Center) and Bella Ludwig played singles matches for Beloit.
- Emmery Manning, Kendra Rowh, Katelyn Pearson, and Kolbee Bergmann rounded out the doubles line-up for the Trojans, gaining valuable varsity experience against a strong pool of regional opponents.
Both tournaments utilized 8-game pro sets with short deuces and tiebreakers at 7-all, testing the stamina and mental toughness of the Beloit squad as they continue to build momentum through the mid-point of the fall season.
