SEDGWICK COUNTY — Authorities have announced a $5,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest in the suspicious death of 67-year-old Loretta Moody of Wichita.
The Crime Stoppers of Wichita-Sedgwick County reward comes as police press forward with a homicide investigation following a grim discovery earlier this month.
Investigation Details
- The Discovery: On September 16, Wichita Fire Department personnel requested an urgent police response after two individuals walked into Wichita Fire Station 22 (2659 S. Hydraulic) at approximately 6:25 p.m. carrying a suitcase containing a body.
- Victim Identification: Responding officers confirmed that 67-year-old Loretta Moody was inside the luggage and pronounced her dead at the scene. Her body was subsequently transferred to the Sedgwick County Medical Examiner’s Office.
- Current Status: Police are treating the case as a homicide. Investigators have been interviewing the two individuals who brought the suitcase to the station to determine their connection to Moody, though a formal cause of death has not yet been released.
