OSBORNE, Kan. — Runners tackled the 3.1-mile course at the Osborne Country Club on Thursday, September 24, 2026, for the annual Osborne High School Cross Country Meet, showcasing strong performances across high school and junior high divisions.
High School Boys Division
Quinter’s junior Carter Pennington set the pace for the varsity boys, capturing first place overall with a stellar time of 17:31.49. Trego Community’s Kemper Flavin followed closely to secure second (17:58.92), while Quinter placed a strong pack behind the leaders, taking spots three through five with Knox Betz (17:59.96), John Boone (18:09.20), and Reid Bowman (18:31.06).
High School Girls Division
In the varsity girls 3.1-mile race, Plainville junior Brilynn Trumpp broke away from the field to claim the individual title in 20:47.13. Ness City put together an impressive team showing, capturing the next three spots consecutively: Daphne Rider finished second (21:46.37), Callie Whited took third (21:56.78), and Riley Whited finished fourth (22:15.64).
Junior High Highlights
Younger divisions competed fiercely over the 2-mile course:
- 7th Grade Boys: Brayden Dohl (Paradise) crossed first in 13:19.59.
- 7th Grade Girls: Iris Bowman led a Quinter one-two punch, winning in 15:37.90 ahead of teammate Jordyn Pennington (15:43.87).
- 8th Grade Boys: Benton Barta (Sylvan Unified) took the win with a 15:26.47 finish.
- 8th Grade Girls: Willow Dow (Trego) claimed top honors, clocking in at 15:28.99.
